It is obvious what can be achieved when a manufacturer with F1 experience produces an extreme hypercar.
An old fashioned, screeching V12-esque F1 car, right?Yes, that 6.5-liter V12 with a needle that climbs to a staggering 11,100 rpm! Coupled with a RIMAC hybrid system, it offers a whopping 1,155 horsepower in total. But remember, this is a car you can take through a McDonald's drive-in because it even has a speed bump lift system.
Stepping into the teardrop-shaped cockpit is like entering a space pod, fitting for a car that looks like you can time travel in it. The rotating wiper on the windshield was designed by a firm that usually works on space shuttles. The Valkyrie is the first road car to feature 3D-printed parts in the headlights, and each magnesium wheel weighs less than the tire surrounding it. Incredibly, AML used so much lightweight titanium in the design that the parts suppliers questioned what was going to be built.
Valkyrie's carbon exterior features an amazing open underfloor that curves around the cockpit. The Valkyrie's extreme floor was designed by F1 guru Adrian Newey and is so spacious in places that you could fit a few adults in it. It results in a downforce of 1,100 kg at 150 km/h and you will not see that in any other road car. Bizarre.
Once on the road you imagine yourself in an F1 car with windshield, air conditioning and room for a probably terrified passenger. Earplugs or some other form of hearing protection are a dire necessity because as soon as the 6.5L V12 is running the sound is truly deafening.
But what immediately strikes us is that this Valkyrie is so easy! Well okay, not quite. There's no lazy 'drive' button and every change from the 'old-school' clutch, seven-speed sequential automatic is made via the paddle shifters. A high-pitched screech follows as you downshift through the gears in Track mode, the craziest of Valkyrie's three settings. The service is phenomenal. However, it's the sheer acceleration of the Valkyrie that impresses the most. It goes so fast and so easy that you have to pay attention!
Valkyrie's F1-inspired suspension includes independent double wishbones, active dampers and active ride height actuators. At F1 speeds you definitely want the braking to be as aggressive as the acceleration. Equipped with titanium calipers and ceramic discs (420mm front, 385mm rear), the Valkyrie inspires immense confidence even at triple-digit speeds.
The development and production of the Valkyrie has had many highs and lows, but we now understand that all that blood, sweat and tears have not been in vain. This car is a real game changer! This is a car that takes the concept of design and technology to a new level. Like the McLaren F1, the Valkyrie will be discussed in the same mythical terms in 20 years. The Valkyrie offered by us was originally delivered in the Netherlands and comes from the first owner. Executed in the Iridescent Emerald Green, the special lines of the Valkyrie certainly come into their own.
