One of only 499 examples ever produced, as rare as the LaFerrari and the 16M, and originally available exclusively to existing Ferrari collectors. The ‘A’ stands for ‘Aperta’, Italian for ‘open’. This is the retractable hardtop variant of the uncompromising 458 Speciale. A Spider, but with more edge, more intensity and more character.
Beneath the glass engine cover lies the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 Ferrari ever delivered in a road car: 605 hp at 9.000 rpm and 540 Nm at 6.000 rpm. It sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 3,0 seconds, reaches 200 km/h in 9,5 seconds and continues to a top speed of 320 km/h. Despite its open roof, it weighs only 50 kg more than the coupé and significantly less than the standard 458 Spider, thanks to extensive weight saving measures in the engine, bodywork, glass and interior.
The engineering is impressive, but the experience is what truly defines it. With the roof down, the 9.000 rpm V8 soundtrack reaches you completely unfiltered. Every gear feels like one long ‘sweet spot’. The seven speed F1 transmission shifts razor sharp, the carbon ceramic brakes bite hard and the suspension with ‘SCM-E’ dampers keeps everything perfectly composed.
With ‘Side Slip Angle Control’ and the electronic differential, the car uses advanced software to support your driving without ever taking over. The result is phenomenal grip, razor sharp steering and a balance that inspires confidence, even at the limit.
